Enterprise Development Research

Large-scale research on entrepreneurial activity at a local, provincial and national level is in short supply. While some useful reports have been produced by universities and government departments, opportunity exists for detailed research about the actual habits of new business people. ExecuThink has developed the Entrepreneurial Propensity Index (EPI) as a diagnostic tool for assessing appropriate preferences when starting a business. The EPI is 360 degree assessment of entrepreneurial competencies and provides comparative data on self-assessment versus aggregate opinion of nominees. This data is available from the EPI database, a rich source of information which will provide an overall numerical picture of likely entrepreneurial behaviour. Articles will be developed from this data and provide comparisons against demographic criteria, gaps in self-perceptions and comparisons with overall norms, for South Africa and other countries. Organisations which are interested in supporting this research should contact ExecuThink accordingly.
